The Tom Ridge Environmental Center (TREC)

The idea of a grand visitor center first came about in 1957 during the park’s first Master Plan.  After many years, the idea became a reality when in 2002 construction began on a large visitor center. In 2006, the Tom Ridge Environmental Center (The Gateway to the Peninsula) was open for park visitors to enjoy.  The TREC features many exhibits that educate and interpret the history, natural history, myths and legends, and current research and resource management that is important to protect and conserve the natural resources for future generations to enjoy.  The building also features many green technologies in its design, a large format theater, an orientation theater, a café, gift shop, and much more.  For more information on the Tom Ridge Environmental Center visit
