Each year the farm continually evolves to include more activities, attractions and events. The farm wouldn’t be what it is without our wonderful team. We are always looking to expand the team and want fun, dedicated employees that are friendly, outgoing and who are ready to learn new skills. So, what’s it really like working at Port Farms? Let’s ask some people who know the farm best:

How long have you worked at Port Farms and what do you do?

Sophia: This will be my sixth year at Port Farms. For the first few years I was a South End Attendant watching over some of the attractions. The last few years I have been in admissions helping people check in, explain things, and answer their questions.

Jade: This will be my fourth year. My first year I worked in the Gourd Walk and on the slides. Now I am working in admissions, the Sweet Shoppe, Harvest Barn etc.

Jacob: I have been working here since 2015 and I am one of the main farm hands. I do everything from planting the fields to cutting French fries in the kitchen.  It’s a broad spectrum so I’m doing anything and everything that needs done…and I’m happy to do it!

Fern: I have worked here about 12 years and have worked in the bakery as well as anything else that needs to be done.

How would you describe the farm to someone who has never been there?

Sophia: It’s a really fun place to work and a fun place to be. I have been coming here since I was a baby, so it has been a part of my entire life. There are so many activities to do for kids and adults.

Jade: I would say it’s a fun family environment. It’s also a great place to hang out with friends.

Jacob: It’s a very fun and interactive place to work. There’s a lot of different things you could be doing from building something to selling something. There’s really a niche for everyone here.

Fern: They have missed a lot. There’s so much to do for every age. Really just so many different things to do and we want to keep growing. We have our flower season, fall season, then we go right into Christmas.

What’s the work culture like?

Sophia: It’s a really friendly work environment. All of the employees are great. The bosses are really easy people to work with and are very flexible.

Jade: Everyone I have worked with is the best. We have so much fun. I have made life-long friends working here.

Jacob: We are a great team! Everybody here communicates very well.

Fern: Wonderful! Everyone is so nice. It’s a very enjoyable place to work.

What do you like most about your job?

Sophia: The thing I like most about my job is getting to work with such good people and getting to be outside. I love to be outside, and working here I get to be out in the fresh air.

Jade: The community and people here are so nice. The environment is great. I love being in the country so working here is awesome.

Jacob: I like the fact that you can come to work, and the sky is the limit on what you can do.  You could come and mow grass for the day, plant in the fields, then trim some trees. There is something different every day.

Fern: My favorite part is the children! I love seeing the kids come in really happy and enjoying themselves.

What would you say to someone looking to apply?

Sophia: I would say go for it!

Jade: Do it because we’ll have so much fun!

Jacob: Do it! The atmosphere around here is great. Everyone is very open and accepting of new people. We always try to keep everybody happy and make sure everyone is doing their best.

Fern: I would say it’s the best place in the world to work!
